With globalization increasing, there is increasing competition for business with consumers around the world, regardless of where they are, and no nation wants to be left behind. Governments recognize the importance of a high-quality curriculum to have a population with the knowledge, proficiency and skills that enable them to compete successfully, both individually and collectively. There is a lot to take into account when writing a complete school curriculum for a nation. For example, the curriculum must consider the needs of students of all ages, with all abilities and across the socioeconomic spectrum. It must ensure equitable access to the learning needed to equip young people with world-class knowledge and skills. A key aspect of this learning is language, both the “language of learning” that enables access to the curriculum as a whole, and the foreign language that is so important in our global economy.
Thus, curriculum development is a task of great magnitude and the competition could not be greater. Members of the Curriculum Foundation team have extensive experience gained through curriculum design and Bahamas Mobile Number List development work across a range of countries. The plenary will draw on this experience to explore the nature of a world-class curriculum and the process of developing one. It will reference the principles of the world-class curriculum that the Foundation created and show how it can be used, both as an audit tool to assess curriculum quality, and as a foundation for the design and development of an effective curriculum. The speaker will also share key aspects of the Foundation's practice and strategies to ensure that pitfalls are avoided and ensure that quality and sustainability are included in the curriculum. Speaker: Dr. Dave Peck CEO of the Curriculum Foundation (UK) and consultant to the organization since its founding in 2009.

Since then, he has continued to engage with the Ministry and experienced education professionals through his work with the Lemman Foundation. Other international experiences include participation in long and short term projects, as well as speaking at conferences and workshops in several countries such as Chile, China, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Qatar, Morocco, Rwanda, South Sudan, Zambia and the United Kingdom.
